Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting - Malta & UK
Be the financial reporting owner for Malta & UK. Statutory accounts, IFRS, and a direct line to the CFO
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to personally own our in-house accounting across our Malta and UK entities - Malta being our primary operating entity. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be the go-to person for accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting in a growing fintech. This is an execution role, not an oversight one.
Key Responsibilities
Management accounts and financial reports for the CFO and senior leadership
Financial reporting under IFRS and local GAAP
Statutory financial statements under Malta GAAP; coordination and support to our UK outsourced firm
VAT returns, tax filings, and statutory reporting
Month-end and year-end close, start to finish
Daily bookkeeping, postings, and reconciliations across both entities
Liaison with external accountants and auditors, retaining in-house ownership throughout
What We Are Looking For
6+ years of hands-on, in-house accounting experience, you have personally owned the full cycle, not managed others doing it
IFRS knowledge; Big 4 background is a plus
Strong knowledge of VAT and statutory reporting
Experience with accounting systems such as Netvisor, Xero, or similar
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent
Fluent in English; Maltese strongly preferred
